The JustUs Focus Group Phase Completed

The Focus Group Phase of the project began in September 2012 and was completed in January 2013. Gaslight Media Trust (GMT) conducted a total of 26 Focus Groups in schools and youth work settings across Northern Ireland to more than 250 young people.

The focus group phase had three specific functions:

  1. To enable GMT to identify and explore the key identity issues relevant to young people growing up here in the context of a society still emerging from decades of violent political conflict and in particular on how its legacy has the power to shape and define young people's identity today.
  2. To begin the process of building of relationships with schools and teachers and with youth centres and youth workers.
  3. To identify young people to be as potential interviewees who will eventually go on to appear in the programme’s set of digital resources.
